The Ugandan FA has asked Chiefs if Obua would be available for a friendly game to be played against Libya on the 13th August. It is unsure whether this game will be played in Kampala or Libya. They have also asked for the lanky player, who the Ugandan FA have described as pivotal to the expected success of Ugandan Football, to be available for another friendly game on the 29th August against Burkina Faso and then the qualifier against Lesotho on the 2nd September in their opening group three match which is a home game for Uganda.
Chief’s coach Ernst Middendorp congratulated Obua on his call up to the national team but was not up beat about allowing him to travel for all three games saying, “when it comes to the Lesotho game we have to release him because it is a FIFA Weekend.
With regards to Libya we have a game against Arrows on the 12th of August so it looks unlikely that he will be available for that game. When it comes to the Burkina Faso game we will have to look into it as we play against SuperSport United two days before that game so we will have to decide upon that one. He definitely will be available for the Lesotho game”.
The Chiefs coach also added that before finalizing his decision he would talk it through with the player and team manager Bobby Motaung. He will then write to the Ugandan FA and give them his decision on which of the games the player will be available for.
