Naturena’s reenergised side will battle it out against ‘Umlilo’ (Bay United) in a second semi-final of the Premiers Cup tournament at 13h00.
The tournament will be played in a 45 000 seater facility and an official 2010 World Cup venue, the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium of Port Elizabeth.
“The event organizers have warned that only 35 000 tickets will be sold for this tournament and this is a precautionary measure for a newly built world class football facility. We therefore urge all our supporters, particularly those who hail from the Eastern Cape, to continue our good culture of buying tickets on time.
During the Confederations Cup, proudly South Africans proved the world’s afro-pessimists wrong, by filling up the stadiums during the first ever African chapter of the Confederations Cup hosted here in South Africa. I have no doubt in my mind that, the loads of zeal and patriotism shown by the country’s football fanatics can very well be carried over to this tournament” Makunga said.
Amakhosi’s Football Manager, Bobby Motaung told reporters at the Press Conference held at the Nelson Mandela Bay stadium yesterday that, “the tournament is a competitive platform at which to showcase and put to test our new acquisitions, our new vision going forward. Everything is new for us - a new stadium, our new players and technical team (referring to the new Head Coach Vladimir Vermezovic and his Assistant Ace Khuse).
I am certain that our supporters have been longing to see our new players in action thus we believe that this tournament could not have come at a better time when we are busy preparing a formidable team that will compete for everything on offer next season”
Motaung further thanked both the Eastern Cape Provincial Government and the Nelson Mandela Metropolitan Municipality for inviting Kaizer Chiefs to take part in this year’s tournament following a successful inaugural Cup staged last year.
Tickets are already on sale for this tournament and will cost football fanatics only R20 for the Open Stands and R30 for the Grand Stands. The selling outlets include Computicket and Shoprite Checkers.
