Bafana Bafana will enter Moses Mabhida Stadium this afternoon knowing that a victory against Libya will mean an advantage to their chances of qualifying for the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament.
Kaizer Chiefs duo of goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune and fullback Ramahlwe Mphahlele have been selected to carry the nation’s hopes.
“We’ve been working hard,” said Mphahlele. “All the players in camp are fit to play and we are looking forward to the game. We have been focusing on tactics and set pieces over the last two days.”
Bafana Bafana last year beat African giants and fellow Group E members Nigeria 2-0 in Uyo.
“We all know the importance of this game,” continued the Amakhosi defender. “We want to stay top in our group. We all know what’s required, which is to qualify for the tournament in Cameroon next year.”
Libya eased to a 5-1 victory at home against the Seychelles.
“We have watched videos,” Rama looked at their opponents. “They try play football and are tall at the back. We will have to watch their fast wingers. Their style of play typically that of North Africans.”
Kick-off is at 15:00.
“We will do well at our home ground,” vowed Rama. It is important that we get positive results. We are playing for the Nation and hence have to do our best.”
