With two wins from their last two games the Amakhosi have turned the corner and have put behind them what was deemed by many as a particularly slow start to the season, as sun begins to shine once again on Chiefs ambitions for multiple honours in 2006 – 2007.

The Amakhosi are also presented with the opportunity of sending out warning signals to the rest of the league, should they achieve victory in their next league encounter, which is at home against defending PSL Champions Mamelodi Sundowns in just over a week’s time. Added to this is the fact that Chiefs have the opportunity to get their hands on their first trophy of the new season a week after the Sundowns game, when they meet SuperSport United in the final of the SAA Supa8 Tournament on October 21st.

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Frank Eulberg believes that The Amakhosi can reach dizzy heights and perhaps unparalleled success this season; including adding a fourth league championship to their trophy cabinet.

According to Eulberg the fact that Chiefs have eight players on international duty this coming weekend, with five players called up to the Bafana Bafana squad that will be travelling to Lusaka on Friday for a 2008 MTN/CAF Africa Cup of Nations qualifying game, is proof that the current Chiefs squad is full of quality players, with a host of players soon to add to the number of Chiefs players representing their countries national teams.

This coming weekend, in addition to the five players in the Bafana Bafana squad, Chiefs have David Obua in action with the Ugandan national team in Niger as well as Tinashe Nengomasha, recalled to the Zimbabwean team for the first time in eight months.

Tinashe was recalled to the Zimbabwean national team after an explosive start to the season, which has seen him demonstrate the same kind of tenacity and and determination in his play and the same kind of over all form that won him the PSL player of the season honour in the 2003 – 2004 season.

Completing the list of Chiefs representatives in action over this Fifa Weekend for international matches, is the club's reserve goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune, who will travel with the national u-23 to Namibia to take on their Namibian counterparts in an all important 2008 Olympic qualifying match.

Commenting on the various call up’s received by the players Chiefs assistant coach Frank Eulberg said “it is a wonderful thing for us to have so many players representing their national teams this weekend, it shows that we have many quality players in our team”.

The Chiefs assistant also added that having so many players on international duty is an indication that the team is moving in the right direction, saying “as the coaching staff of the team myself Ernst and Rainer it gives us extra drive knowing that our players are being called up to their national teams. It demonstrates to us that we are doing something right and therefore our players are getting the recognition they deserve”.

Eulberg lays it down to the fact that the players and technical team are working towards the same objectives, which has contributed significantly in Chiefs having major representation across the African continent this weekend.

“If you look at the way we work every department has specialized training, Rainer for example has done an excellent job with the goalkeepers. As a result of intensive personal attention you have two goalkeepers representing South Africa in the form of Rowen Fernandez and Itumeleng Khune who is currently playing for two junior national teams at the same time” said Eulberg.

He continued on by adding, “as a coaching team we always endeavour to get the best out of our players and provide the best coaching and other advise we can for them, we want them to achieve a lot not just at club level but with their national teams as well. If we at Chiefs can play apart in assisting our players in going places, in domestic competition as well as with at international level then I believe as a technical team we are happy to assist in their success”.

Eulberg is further confident that The Amakhosi’s players who will be in national team action will give a good account of themselves, given the current form of most of the guys. He is also of the opinion that goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez will be able to deal effectively with the threat from Zambia’s attacking duo of Collins Mbesuma and Chris Katongo and further extend his run of clean sheets for the national team.
