“We are looking forward to our first league game at home this season,” says Kaizer Chiefs striker Bernard Parker about Saturday evening’s clash against Free State Stars at the FNB Stadium. “It would be great to have our supporters turn out in numbers, as they are such a confidence booster for us as a team.”

Parker scored a scorcher in the first leg of the MTN8 semifinal against Bloemfontein Celtic on Sunday, sweetly hitting the ball with his left from outside the box.

“That was one of my best goals ever,” reflects the 29-year-old. “The moment I hit the ball with my foot, I knew having hit a sweet spot. I was delighted seeing the ball end up in the net and relieved as well, especially after having missed a penalty earlier in the game.”

Amakhosi and Celtic played to a 1-1 draw, thanks to Parker’s second half equalizer. “It was a good result,” adds the striker, “as we now go into our home game with an away goal advantage.”

About Saturday’s home game against Free State Stars, he comments: “It will be an interesting match. We are improving game by game. We face Free State Stars on Saturday evening, at 20:15 – that’s perfect for our supporters to have a nice time out and see their favourite team. I really hope that the FNB Stadium will be filled with Gold and Black, also because seeing a packed stadium gives us extra oomph!”

Ea La Koto lost their first game of the 2015/2016 Absa Premiership. They were beaten 1-0 at home by Muhsin Ertugral’s new side, Mpumalanga Black Aces. Amakhosi drew 0-0 away against Chippa United.

Chiefs’ first home game this season, although it wasn’t a league game, was against Maritzburg United in the MTN8 quarterfinal. The game finished in a thrilling 5-3 scoreline. George Lebese scored a brace, while Bernard Parker, Siyanda Xulu and Hendrick Ekstein also found the back of the net.

The clash between Amakhosi and Free State Stars will be played at the FNB Stadium on Saturday evening, 22 August (kick-off at 20:15).
