Panyeko is the lucky one – Mme Namhla

“I feel great to be the lucky one,” reacted Phemezo Panyeko when George Lebese was suddenly on the doorstep of his home in Langa on Saturday evening to personally deliver an online purchase of Kaizer Chiefs merchandise. “I love everyone at Chiefs and George is my favourite thanks to his flair and dribbling wizardry.”

Lebese’s visit was the result of a competition that ran on the KC DigiStore, via which Chiefs merchandise can be bought online.

Unfortunately, Phemezo was not at home – he was on a business trip and out of town - and he had to speak with Lebese over the phone. Instead, it was his hugely surprised mother Namhla Panyako, a retired nurse, who opened the door.

When Namhla looked at the person at her doorstep, the Chiefs winger said: “I am George Lebese, a Kaizer Chiefs player and I am here to deliver a parcel for Phemezo.”

This unique promotion was only available to KC DigiStore shoppers that lived within the 40 kilometres radius from Cape Town CBD and it coincided with Amakhosi’s second game at home away from home in the Cape of Love & Peace against Platinum Stars on Sunday afternoon.

The KC DigiStore promotion, meanwhile, has been extended. This means that more buyers could be surprised with an Amakhosi star knocking on their doors to deliver a package.

“My son is the luckiest,” reflected a proud Mme Namhla. “I was caught a bit off guard as I was actually about to go to bed. Suddenly, I heard ‘knock-knock’ and there is George Lebese on my doorstep. I am now so excited. What a wonderful surprise visit. Thank you, this is truly magnificent.”

“We’ve done it again as once more we introduced a new concept in our array of initiatives in our digital space,” enthuses Chiefs’ Digital Manager Kemiso Motaung. “I’m happy we found our lucky shopper. This is awesome and we encourage the supporters to take advantage of the KC Digistore. We always have some special running.”

Accompanying Lebese to the delivery was Chiefs’ Marketing Director Jessica Motaung and KC Mobile’s Manager Bafana Sibiya.

“I will be back in town on time to watch the match,” Phemezo promised to Lebese.

Chiefs are in Cape Town to host Rustenburg-based Platinum Stars at the Cape Town Stadium on Sunday, January 24. Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers for R60. Kick-Off is at 15:30.
