Striker, Bernard Parker joined the selected few list of players when he scored on his first official game for the Club as Chiefs dumped the Students out of the MTN8 at FNB Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Chiefs who were already 1-0 down as early as 11th minute earned a penalty in the 20th minute when Siboniso Gumede brought down Mandla Masango inside the box.

Bernard Parker just like he did against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Cup late on the 30th July 2011 confidently stepped up and beat former Kaizer Chiefs goal minder, Emille Baron with a superbly taken penalty.

“It is always special to score on your official debut,” said Parker who joins the likes of Jabu Pule (Mahlangu), Collins Mbesuma who also scored on his debut for the Glamour Boys.

“It was a difficult game and Wits made us sweat for victory. We are all happy to advance to the next stage of the competition.

“I struggled a little bit towards the end of the game as my legs were heavy. I am certain though I will be in much better condition when we face Jomo Cosmos this coming Saturday.

The player received a standing ovation from the Kaizer Chiefs faithful when he was replaced by midfielder, Josta Dladla in the 86th minute of the game.

Parker now turns his attention to Bafana Bafana international friendly against Burkina Faso, “This is a very important game for us. We cannot take Burkina Faso for granted as they are one of the top teams in Africa. We have been playing well and I have no doubt that we can beat them come Wednesday,” said Parker.
