Bernard Parker was in the thick of things as the Glamour Boys sent their Soweto rivals, Orlando Pirates packing. He did not only score the opening goal of the match but played his heart out.
“To win the league all players will have to come to the party,” noted Abel Shongwe speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday afternoon.
I do think though without putting pressure on Bernard Parker, he is a player that has shown that he can make a difference for Chiefs this season,” said Chacklas Shongwe who together with his cousin William “Cool Cat” Shongwe turned out for the Glamour Boys in the 80s.
“His work rate is impressive. He is disciplined. He gives it all for the benefit of the team. He is going to score lot of goals for the team this season.
Shongwe also believes if Chiefs continue to play the way they played against current league holders, Orlando Pirates last Saturday at FNB Stadium then the team will achieve its ‘objectives’.
“They did not show Pirates any respect last Saturday. The whole team showed determination and the will to win the game. They fought and did not show any respect for Orlando Pirates.
This weekend the Amakhosi are facing a tougher test as they travel to Bloemfontein to honour a meeting with Bloemfontein Celtic, “It is a tough game but I have no doubt that if the boys show the same kind of commitment they showed against Pirates they can overcome any challenge they will be facing this season.
Kick off for the game at Seisa Ramabodu Stadium is at 18:00.
