Bafana Bafana coach elect Carlos Alberto Parreira showed and made it clear over the past couple of days that he is not in South Africa for any monetary motives, after arriving in the country just under a week ago Parreira kept himself busy over the weekend.

As he first attended two national team matches over the weekend, one of which involved Bafana Bafana and the other an Olympic qualifier between Amaglug Glug and their Namibian counterparts.

Once the working week got under way he got straight to business on Tuesday. The Brazilian Fifa World Cup winning coach formerly addressed the South African media for the first time and on Wednesday he continued his familiarization process of South African soccer by holding a meeting at the Sandton Convention centre with coaches from the different PSL Clubs.

Parreira’s aim was to set clear guidelines for what he hopes will be a smooth working relationship with the clubs and in particular the understanding of what Parreira expects of the coaches, and in turn how would they like the new coach to keep them up to date on developments on a regular basis. In attendance at the meeting was Amakhosi coach Ernst Middendorp who commented on the meeting.

“Carlos, by meeting with the coaches, has demonstrated that we will all play an important role in his plans to take the national team to greater heights, from my two meetings with him I can say that he has our cooperation”.

Parreira who has been a professional soccer coach for 36 years will be leaving South Africa shortly and will be heading to Germany for a post Fifa World Cup Conference with the other 31 coaches who lead teams during the recent Fifa World Cup; he will permanently take up his post as Bafana Bafana coach in the New Year.
