Musona who scored 20 goals in all competitions during the 2010 – 2011 season said to kaizerchiefs.com that he was humbled by the fact that his teammates had recognised his contributions to the team’s course during the past season.
“It was the guys around me who helped me play the way I did during the season, I thank my teammates for helping me raise my game and for assisting me in scoring the number of goals that I did.
Even though I won this award it is an award for the entire team and will motivate each of us to carry on in the future. To be selected by your colleagues and be recognized for your efforts by them on the field is a true honour and one which I appreciate.”
Musona also managed to win four player of the month awards for September, October, November and December.
“I was very surprised that I was able to win the player of the month four months in succession, I am happy that my goals and performances ensured that during these months the fans were kept happy and entertained” said a beaming Musona.
In addition to the Players Player of the season award and his player of the month prizes Musona also won the award for the clubs top goal scorer and he also won the prize for goal of the season.
In his usual humble manner Musona refused to take all the credit on his own, “whenever I took to the field I was never alone and I knew that. I had the season of my life because of the fact that I was well supported.
My teammates backed me all the way and I am happy to have not let them and the fans down, there will be expectations for us to deliver again next season and hopefully we can live up those and do better than we did in the last season. We won’t sit back and we will look to do better next term”
