Commenting after SuperSport United Coach Pitso Mosimane said that his team would be without a number of their big name players who are nursing injuries, ahead of this weekends ABSA Cup last 32 match against The Amakhosi, Kaizer Chiefs defender Jimmy Tau is of the opinion that the SuperSport United Coach is waging psychological warfare against Chiefs; Mosimane also stated that his team are the underdogs for Saturday’s game.

“Whatever Pitso says should not be taken seriously, he is known for trying to throw the opposition off balance, he just wants to make us feel secure - and then comes game time and things are very different,” responded Tau. Jimmy is also of the opinion that Mosimane is continuing with his warfare of the mind by saying that SuperSport are underdogs. “

Look at SuperSports' record in Cup competitions over the past couple of seasons - they have been to about five finals in two seasons. How can a team with such a Cup pedigree be regarded as underdogs? Whatever game Mosimane is playing he can do it with his team. We are aware of the task that lies before us and will definitely not be underestimating them. They are the defending champions after all” added Tau.

Tau,who has as yet not won a winners medal in Cup competition is aiming at making this seasons ABSA Cup Medal the first Cup final medal to adorn his fire place.

“Having not yet won a cup medal, I feel the time is right. We have a team with a lot of experience and the ability to have a successful ABSA Cup campaign”. With the defending champions first up, the task of winning might be harder than it looks, Tau though is still confident Chiefs will triumph. He says “we won’t come across a team more hungry in the competition than SuperSport, because of the mere fact that they are the defending champions and will want to hang on to their trophy.

Should we triumph over them the rest of the tournament will flow smoothly for us, it is not in the nature of Chiefs to be absent from at least one cup final in a season”.

Chiefs will meet up with Matsasantsa at the FNB Stadium on Saturday afternoon in the ABSA Cup last 32. Tickets for the game are available country wide at Shoprite -Checkers outlets, Computicket and The Amakhosi Store which is located in the Johannesburg CBD. Entrance to the game is at R20 - the same price one would pay to watch Chiefs in a PSL match at FNB Stadium.
