“We played well, but if it’s not meant to be, it’s not meant to be,” reflected coach Ernst Middendorp on the 1-all stalemate against Golden Arrows. Kaizer Chiefs created numerous chances, but the woodwork stood in the way between a draw and victory. It obviously wasn’t to be on the night.
The German coach saw a few positives though. “Reeve Frosler had his first 90 minutes in about a year,” he commented on the winger/wing-back, who joined Amakhosi from Bidvest Wits during the January transfer window.
“It was also good to see Joseph Molangoane getting minutes after having been injured for about eight months. We are trying to bring him back. He has experience and will help us.”
Dax Andrianarimanana and Philani Zulu were also doing well, with one of the two often moving forward to assist the attackers. Both were unlucky not to get a goal.
The coach furthermore explained that Khama Billiat, who was Man of the Match against Chippa United on Saturday, had a slight hamstring issue and was therefore given a break.
Chiefs are now in seventh position on the Absa Premiership log with 38 points from 27 games.
Amakhosi will now travel to Polokwane to face Bloemfontein Celtic at Peter Mokaba Stadium on Saturday, 27 April. Kick-off is at 20:15.
