On preparations to face Polokwane City

I think from the last game we played against Swallows, we’ve had a week’s break, during which we played a friendly against one of the First Division teams and it was a good exercise, but in saying that it’s always difficult to ensure the players maintain their work ethic and the ability to take the team to another level. But I must say I haven’t seen a team maintain that level and keep wanting to push further for a long time. I must give them credit. They are doing very, very well at training, even the injured ones.

So, preparing for Polokwane City has been quite a challenge for our technical team because we actually had to hold them back sometimes. They are so eager; they just want to get going. We know the heat is on another level, but we have come here to train to get used to it and we have taken other measures to ensure they cope with the heat.

Our stats against Moroka Swallows in the heat were very good so it doesn’t bother us. We are focused on playing our opponents and being at our best.

We are not called Kaizer Chiefs for nothing. Whether it’s the bottom team on the log or the top team; we know every game against us is a Final. We are preparing the team as though every game is a Final until the end of the league.

On the state of the squad

Keagan Dolly is still recovering and is still involved in his rehab following his injury against Orlando Pirates. TT (Ditlhokwe) came off the operating table yesterday for his shoulder an we expect him to be out for about three months. We wish him a good recovery, And Ashley (du Preez) is maybe a week and a half to two weeks away from being back.

On Polokwane City

I know (Ndumiso) Mabena very well. He played for me at Platinum Stars. He was a good player then and h’s still doing very well now because he looks after himself. And then you have young (Oswin) Appolis, who is also impressive. They are a good side. They like to attack, especially at home in Polokwane so we are wary of what we are coming up against, but well ready for the challenge.
