Morgan ‘MG’ Gould has insisted that he and his teammates have their eyes fully focused on the last 16 encounter against Polokwane City before thinking about winning the Nedbank Cup that has eluded the Glamour Boys for the past five seasons.
Gould, the last captain to lift the cup in last season’s final while at SuperSport United has been an important cog in the Kaizer Chiefs’ defense since returning from injury a couple of weeks ago.
“We are not thinking about winning the cup but Polokwane City is the focus,” he told kaizerchiefs.com just before the morning training session.
“It was nice to win the cup last season but that is now history and it is my aim to win more trophies with the Club. It is an objective we are working towards as a Club to continue with the proud history that has led the Club to be one of the respected brands in the continent and the world over.”
Back to Polokwane City, Gould said he is expecting a tough match from the first division outfit, “It is always a challenge to play against lower division sides as they often do not have shape. This can make it difficult to plan for them. We will need to be at our best on Saturday and leave no stone unturned,”
Kickoff for the game is at 20h30.
