David Kannemeyer and Thabiso “Skapi” Malatsi will accompany club’s PRO Putco Mafani on his appearance for the branch launch, and the Provincial Imbizo of the supporters on both Saturday and Sunday at the Rosedale Hall.
This initiative is in line with Mafani’s vision of taking the club philosophy to the people, in particular developing new markets, opening branches and recruiting as many supporters as possible.
"Our supporters are the number one asset in our business and they are everywhere. We were quite pleased with the honorable Premiers’ quick response to grace and bless our occasion.
"We know that there are many other outstanding and recognizable leaders out there who are fans of the mighty Amakhosi and we encourage them to come out and get involved in club matters”, said a jubilant Mafani.
It will not be the first time that Premier Dipico will host the Chiefs entourage, he did so at the end of the past season, when he paid tribute to the technical staff and the squad of Kaizer Chiefs, in a glittering banquet. He saluted the team for winning a record 4 trophies in 4 months in the past season, plus winning the “CAF Africa Club of the Year” award.
Dipico will open the supporters Provincial Imbizo at the Rodesdale Hall at 10H00, and he is expected to outline government plans in assisting sports development in small towns like Upington.
Die hard and loyal Amakhosi supporters are expected to come in big numbers from other neighboring towns like De Aar, Springbok, Postmasburg, Kuruman, Kimberly and Taung, to mention but a few. The charismatic Mafani will deliver the main address, where he is expected to outline:
As part of the branches fund raising activities, the Upington branch will hold its Miss Kaizer Chiefs beauty contest on Saturday, 10 August 2002 at the same venue.
