Pressure is joy - Masha

Tefu Mashamaite told the media that they have to do things that made Chiefs win things (League and Cup double) last season. ‘Masha’ was responding to media questions at the TKO Quarter Final Press Conference. The conference was held at the PSL HQ on Thursday afternoon. Kaizer Chiefs travel to Qwaqwa, Phuthaditjhaba, to tackle Free State Stars, in the TKO Last 8, at the Charles Mopeli Stadium. Kickoff on Sunday, 20 October 2013, is at 15:00.

Any pressure coming from Kaizer Chiefs after being nominated in the Team of Year category, in the SA Sports Awards and ‘Masha’ having scored two goals in the TKO Last 16 against Polokwane City:

“Pressure is joy and we have to embrace the opportunity to play for Chiefs. If we are mentally strong there is no pressure. As a defender I have been enjoying to score goals. I find myself in a different space compared to other defenders but all what makes me happy is to contribute to the success of the team. For me scoring goals is what is required in modern game. Every player in the field has a potential to score goals. I have been scoring since my days at Wits. When I came to Chiefs I struggled a bit in the beginning but now I have picked up and who knows I can become a leading goal scorer of the tournament. For as long as my teammates take good corners and put the balls in good spaces I will continue to exploit the opportunity to score. Let's see how it goes.”

Threat posed by Free State Stars striker Adam Abdul-Basit (Adam has scored one goal in the TKO Last 16 against AmaZulu):

“We should be more worried about Free State Stars as a whole. We can’t focus on one player. Even their defenders can score goals. We will have a debrief before the game. We will analyse what the whole FS Stars can offer.”

PSL is returning to action this weekend with the TKO after the Fifa week and Masha and other regular players were rested when Chiefs played in a Macufe Cup friendly:

“We were a bit fatigued after playing back to back games before the Fifa week. The resting gave us opportunity to breathe a bit. Playing Saturday and Tuesday doesn’t give us a chance to regroup and rectify our mistakes. At the same time that can work against us as well, in terms of breaking the momentum after a good spell in the previous weeks.”

The Amakhosi have not lost in their past five league and Cup games, advancing to the TKO Last 8, drawing in the 2nd leg of the MNT8, winning two and drawing one league games.
