Kaizer Chiefs v MP Black Aces

Sunday, 03 August 2014

The stage is set for what is anticipated to be a humdinger on Sunday when the Amakhosi take on AmaZayoni. The game is expected to be a thriller-a-minute affair. The rivalry between the two teams was deepened when Aces broke Amakhosi's hearts with a last minute winner in the league last season. The clash takes place at the FNB Stadium, kickoff is at 15:00.

If the mood in the Team during pre-match training this afternoon is anything to go by, the supporters must expect an inspired Chiefs performance come Sunday afternoon.

Speaking after training, Coach Baxter was happy with the preparations ahead of theSunday afternoon knockout tie.

Ready to hit the ground running with the start of the season?

"You will never know at the beginning of the season. All the teams have added new players to their squads. It is a matter of working on getting the balance quickly. We are missing some of the players in key positions. I don't think anybody is ready. There are changes in the squads. We will try to get out of the blog and into our strides quickly. It's difficult to conclude before you touch the ball in the new season." said Baxter.

Aces as opponents?

"They have a new group of players. Clive has the same problem that everybody has at this stage of the season. They will play a passing game, so it will make for an interesting game for the supporters." commented Baxter.

During the 2013/14 season Chiefs beat Aces 1-0 courtesy of Bernard Parker in the league opener. Bernard Parker and Siphiwe Tshabalala are ruled out due to injury. Ovidy Karuru is still waiting for his work permits while Phakamani Mngadi is still settling in the team after arriving this week from Belgium. Mathew Rusike is also still side-lined by a knee injury.

Tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite Checkers countrywide. They are R40 for adults and R10 for children under the age of 12. Kickoff for the clash that has all the hallmarks to make it a titanic battle is at 15:00. The gates open at 12:00.
