Black Aces v Kaizer Chiefs

Wednesday, 13 August 2014

Mbombela Stadium

19:30

The Team will be heading to the Lowveld for Wednesday evening’s showdown against Black Aces. On the opening weekend of the Absa Premiership, both Chiefs and Aces returned from their respective trips in the Free State Province with good results. Chiefs collected the maximum points from Free State Stars in Qwaqwa while Aces returned home with a valuable point from Bloemfontein Celtic. Coach Baxter looked ahead of the anticipated encounter:

Chiefs brushed aside Aces in the MTN 8 quarters with a 4 – 0 score line in the previous week.

“It is going to be another difficult game like the first one. This game will not be different from the Cup game we played against them last week, it is going to be equally difficult. Our lads approached the cup game very well, but that’s history now. Tomorrow will be a new challenge, though.” said Baxter.

Aces redeemed themselves after their loss against Chiefs by playing to a draw against Celtic in Bloemfontein.

“The Aces that we played against in the MTN8 was minus some of their foreign players. They fielded a different team this weekend, with some of the players that sat on the bench against us coming on against Celtic. But that doesn’t change them at all, they are the same tricky Aces with the same coach in Clive (Barker). They will still play possession football and they usually like playing more with the ball. They will have some of their foreign players in their team and they will pack some firepower in their new recruit Mbesuma upfront.”

Chiefs collected maximum points against Aces in the league opener last season, courtesy of Parker’s solitary goal at Mbombela Stadium.

The Medical Team reported the progress on the trio of Parker, Shabba and Rusike, who are recovering from an assortment of injuries and will not be available for the trip to Mbombela Stadium. Parker and Shabba have started with warm up training with the team, while Rusike is also making a steady return to the training grounds. We expect Parker back in four weeks’ time while ‘Shabba’ looks likely to return in a week’s time.

Aces broke the hearts of the Amakhosi faithful by scoring in the last minute and eventually winning 1 – 0 at FNB Stadium towards the end of the last season.

The approach.

“We will be varying things a bit, but we will not fix what is not broken at this stage. We hope for better pitch conditions conducive to dishing out some good football tomorrow,” said Baxter, following the state of the pitch at Charles Mopeli Stadium last weekend.

Tickets are R50 (Adults) and this includes parking. R20 for under 18's. Tickets are available from Computicket (outlets and online), as well as KLCBT (Crossings, Nelspruit) and Mbombela Stadium Ticket office. Kickoff is at 19:30.
