Absa Premiership League

Platinum Stars v Kaizer Chiefs

Wednesday, 27 August 2014

Royal Bafokeng Stadium

19:30

We are on our way to Rustenburg for the second time in nine days to face Platinum Stars, this time in the Absa Premiership league fixture.

The Team is looking good despite an assortment of injuries to some of the players. Coach Baxter described the trip as a strange one for both teams following the two meetings back to back in the MTN8 Cup last week.

“It is a strange game for both teams. It’s a return trip for us; we have been there just a few days ago. In this game you try to approach every game as a new challenge, but this one I think will be a difficult one for both teams.

We just have to focus. It is going to be a hard game for both. Both teams can play.” Baxter was talking after taking his charged through the final polishing touches ahead of their trip to the North West Province.

About their preparations?

“The preparations have gone well. It’s a short space between games to make a full assessment of your preparations. We are taking nothing for granted. For the fans, it will be another great night of football," he said.

Players’ availability?

We have Parker and Rusike back in full training. Shabba clocked up some vital minutes in our last game after weeks of absence due to injury.

Karuru has his papers sorted now and he is available for selection. Nkosi has hurt his hip flexor muscle and will be out for 10-14 days.

Katlego 'Killer Mphela has broken his 5th bone in the foot and will need an operation to have it fixed. Mngadi has a cut under the foot, said Baxter, visibly concerned, but still highly inspired to continue with the winning form.

The Amakhosi go into the game as the log leaders after playing and winning all their three opening games, scoring four and conceding one goal in the process. Dikwena are occupying the fourth spot on equal number of games and goals scored but have let in four goals.

In 2013/14 league season, the Amakhosi got the better of Dikwena by 2 – 1 goals in the first round of fixtures and Dikwena turned the tables by winning their home tie by 2 – 0.

The tickets are sold at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide and at Foro Spar in Tlhabane, Kedase Lodge in Rasimone, Luckys Pub in Phokeng at a cost of R40.

Gates open at 16:30.
