At half-time of the game between Kaizer Chiefs and Moroka Swallows - with the score being 1-0 for the Birds - Amakhosi’s marketing director Jessica Motaung received a R1.5 million cheque from PSL chief operating officer Ronnie Schloss.

Chiefs won the award due to winning the most points in the first quarter (Q1), first eight games (out of 30), of the Absa premiership.

Chiefs gained 24 points from the first eight league matches, while Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits, Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town are all on 14 points.

“Congratulations to the players,” Motaung said after receiving the cheque. “Congratulations to the technical team and the coach for their hard work as well as to the PSL for organising this. Receiving this award is really motivating all of us involved with the Amakhosi to do even better.”
