Chiefs will travel to Cape Town for Saturday afternoons clash with league leaders Ajax Cape Town with out defender Jonathan Quartey and midfielder Thuso Phala, but Muhsin Ertugral will be able to take the recovered Derrick Spencer with him on the trip to the Cape. With a cup meeting on March 14th against the Urban Warriors in the offing Chiefs will be looking to use this weekends ABSA Premiership encounter to try and score points on more than one front, as winning the game will help improve Chiefs league standings and will in addition give them a psychological edge over Ajax going into the Nedbank Cup game.

Lay off

Jonathan Quartey who made his long awaited return to first team action last weekend when The Amakhosi were in league action against SuperSport United, will not be in action on Saturday as he has a lung infection. Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday Quartey complained of the misfortune he has had with injuries over the past few months. He said “when I was back in Ghana I was one of the most fortunate players as I rarely ever got injured”, Amakhosi team doctor Mohammed Moosajee confirmed to kaizerchiefs.com that Quartey and Thuso Phala who has a problem with his tonsils will be back in full training on Monday.

Spencer returns

The fact that Jonathan Quartey will not be playing on Saturday had been some what sweetened by the availability of Derrick Spencer for the game, the Telkom Knock Out Cup Final man of the match. Missed out on Chiefs last two league games against BidVest Wits and SuperSport United as he was suffering a recurring problem with a hamstring injury he picked up in a league game against Golden Arrows back in December. Spencer has been at full training over the past week and has been cleared to play in the crunch game against Ajax should the coach wish to select him.
