Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker believes that Arthur Bartman will do a sterling job for the Amakhosi in goal, should the veteran keeper start the game when they face Vasco Da Gama in an Absa Premiership game to be played at the FNB Stadium in Johannesburg on Saturday night.

Chiefs head coach Vladimir Vermezovic announced earlier in the week that he will be resting regular first choice keeper Itumeleng Khune for the weekend’s clash and Bartman is likely to replace him in the starting eleven.

On the decision to rest to Khune, Dinkelacker said “the coach spoke to me and said he intended to leave Itumeleng out of the Vasco game. To me it is a correct decision and it is a normal thing if you have a cup final in front of you.”

Dinkelacker further explained that with Khune having picked up two yellow cards he might take a cautious approach against Vasco as he would try to avoid collecting a third yellow card which would rule him out of the Telkom Knockout Cup Final against Orlando Pirates.

As he further commented saying “in modern football the keeper sometimes has to act as a sweeper and the chances are that he could get another yellow making a tackle or something like that.

"We have a good squad of players and our goalkeeping department is strong and I trust that Arthur who has stood in time and again over the last year for us will do a good job. Should he play it will be good for him to get some match practice as well.”

Dinkelacker has warned his goalkeepers that who ever does deputise for Khune they will be asked many questions from an experienced Vasco frontline that includes the dangerous and highly experienced Sibusiso Zuma.

Explaining his warning to his keepers Dinkelacker said, “I have told the guys that it will be difficult playing against Vasco because we have never faced them before, perhaps once they have been in the PSL for a few seasons it will become easier for us to prepare for them.

"Like I said earlier I do feel that any of the keepers can do a job for us because they all take a very professional approach to the game, who ever will get the nod to stand in goal knows what is expected of them.”
