‘Rama’, has been a regular feature in Steve Komphela’s line-up since the start of the season and his influence at the number two position has been well received by the Chiefs faithful.

Mphahlele on previous game against Maritzburg united:
“It was a good game of football. It’s always difficult to go to Harry Gwala and get a result, but we managed to do that and we are very happy with that.
“To make the win even better was being able to provide an assist and give my teammates an opportunity to score, especially as a defender when you now that your primary job is to defend. So when you get an assist it feels good that you’re making a contribution and it’s also good for ones confidence.”
Mphahlele on team’s good form:
“We have been working hard as a team, but we are well aware that four wins in a row is nothing and we need to be humble, know that there is still a long way to go.
“For me personally the attitude should be to continue winning games and not be satisfied with the two wins this year. These wins mean nothing if we go on to lose our next game. It’s a good start we have had so far, but we have to build on this and continue winning games.”
Mphahlele on Highlands Park:
“I watched their last game (Polokwane City) at home and obviously they have a good team. For me I am actually surprised why they are at the bottom of the log because they have good players who have experience of playing at the highest level.
“We have to be at our best if we want to beat them and switch on from the first whistle till the last and take our chances. In all honesty we are expected to win against them and we want to keep our winning streak going.”
Mphahlele on his season so far with Amakhosi:
“To be honest I am happy, but the most important thing is the team..…It’s always about the team for me. We have to try and win one trophy or two this season and keep improving as a player while dishing out good performances for the team, because it is not everybody who gets an opportunity to play for Kaizer Chiefs.”
Importance of heading into the Soweto derby in good form:
“All the games we play are just as important because three points are there for the taking and that is important to us a team. The game this weekend is just as important as the derby for me and it’s important for us to approach it with the same mentality and passion as we would the Soweto derby.”
On playing at the Moses Mabhida stadium
“Playing in Durban is always fun for us because the people there always come to support us in their numbers and also the last time we played there we got a very good result against Golden Arrows.
“All for us to do now is to go out there and win our game on Saturday and make our supporters who will be there happy. Unfortunately this will be our last league game there this season, but it’s always special for us because their mentality is different from other fans and we appreciate their support.”
