In an interview conducted with Amakhosi magazine defender, Thomas Sweswe affectionately known as “Rambo” says he has settled well at Chiefs.

What has impressed you most since joining Amakhosi?

I have been impressed with everything from the set up to the Management of the players – it’s fantastic! Football Manager, Bobby Motaung made sure that we – my wife Priscilla, my two year old son Siyabonga and myself – soon after our arrival got accommodation to stay, which helped us to settle quickly in South Africa. Mr. Bobby Motaung always motivates us, stressing: “To achieve our goals this season, we all have to work hard.”

You were just at the Club when you faced Manchester City in the Vodacom Challenge – how was that, playing against a world class striker like Emmanuel Adebayor in the final?

That was a dream come true! It was like a turning point of my career, as playing against teams like Manchester City was what I was dreaming about since I was little boy growing up in Harare. We did well as a team. Adebayor is an excellent player, but I was with him the whole game like glue. That’s why the Togolese striker didn’t even get one chance to score. But he’s a very dangerous player in the air, because he is tall.

After the match you exchanged jerseys with Adebayor…

I am going to frame that jersey! While handing over the jersey, Adeboyor told me: “Work hard. You will go places in football when you work hard, there are no short cuts!” But even during the game, he remarked at some stage: “Hey, your team is good, you guys are passing the ball around very well.”
