"We are aware Supersport United didn't have a break due to their CAF commitment," said captain Itumeleng Khune. "We held a great preseason with a camp and friendly matches against good opponents."
Khune was speaking ahead of the MTN8 Cup quarterfinal clash between Kaizer Chiefs and Supersport United scheduled to take place at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday 12 August. Kickoff is 20:15.
"It is not only the coach who's under pressure," said Khune. "The coach is doing his job and it's up to us to pull our weight and bring home the results. We didn't expect what happened in the last two seasons. We just have to be clinical in front of goals."
"We have players that have played at the highest level," said Khune. "We have players that have done well for Kaizer Chiefs, their previous clubs and the national teams."
Amakhosi camp is abuzz with new talent coming up from their development ranks and Khune is impressed, "the younger guys are also raising their hands to step up their game. We have great talent coming up from the development and the coaches are also doing well to nurture new talent."
"Come Saturday, we are ready to make our supporters happy," concludes Khune.
Tickets for the much awaited match are selling fast at Ticketpro outlets at a cost of R60 adults and R15 for children.
