Reiger Park and respect for the elder
Reiger Park and respect for the elder

It doesn’t matter how one calls them: veterans, seniors, elders… The bottom line is that people of advanced age hold a very special place in the Kaizer Chiefs Family. That’s why finding ways to respect and honour our ‘older’ supporters is often a pathway to inspiring greatness. The Reiger Park Kaizer Chiefs Branch recently pulled together the entire Ekurhuleni region to honour 77-year-old Ouma Susan Nimrod, a die-hard Kaizer Chiefs fan, who is fighting cancer.

Ouma Susan was deeply touched with the outpour of love and support from all who attended the meeting. The Reiger Park Branch mobilized their community and local businesses to make the event a success, thanks also to the numerous generous donations. Ouma Susan’s favourite Amakhosi player Jimmy Tau was also in attendance.

“Respecting their wisdom, knowledge, grace and fortitude should become second nature to younger generations,” comments Kaizer Chiefs Supporters Relationship Manager Tracy Williams, “but this doesn’t always happen. Sometimes we need to be reminded why it is so important to respect our elders. It’s because of what they have taught us and how they have helped us ease our way through life.”
