“The 10-0 win over Chippa United is water under the bridge,” says Kaizer Chiefs Reserves coach Arthur Zwane. “The next game is the most important, because we want to maintain the momentum. We will remain humble.”
Kaizer Chiefs Reserves will on Sunday, 11 November take a short trip across to play against Bidvest Wits Reserves in a MultiChoice Diski Challenge (MDC) fixture.
The match is scheduled to take place at Bidvest Wits Stadium (kick-off is at 10:00).
Coach Zwane’s charges will have their confidence sky high after the 10-0 humiliation of Chippa two weeks ago.
“The rhythm has been affected by the break,” admits the coach, “although we have had some good training sessions. It is going to be a tough match on Sunday.
“Wits are highly competitive and they are one of those teams that is always challenging to win the reserve league. They have given us a hard time in the past, even though we beat them 2-0 in the last match we played.”
Wits collected maximum points when they narrowly pipped Golden Arrows 1-0 in their last encounter.
Chiefs occupy ninth spot with nine points on the MDC log, while fourth placed Wits have twelve points. Both sides have played six matches.
“Our team has been together for a while now,” adds Zwane. “We want to combine development, playing good football, winning and challenging for honours. After beating Chippa 10-0, we are now the team to watch.
“We have worked well with the lads to ensure we keep grounded. We have previously lost unnecessary points in some games, including against Free State State when we just gave away the points. All in all, we will continue to work hard to improve with the goal of getting better results. Our games against Wits are always tough. It promises to be an entertaining match to watch.”
