Striker Rene Richards could be back in action when Kaizer Chiefs take on African Wanderers in a Premiership clash at Olympia Park on March 2, according to caretaker coach Doctor Khumalo.

The former Golden Arrows and Zulu Royals star was among the players reported to be on the transfer list but Khumalo, speaking on SS3's Ibhola Lethu on Wednesday night, said he was disappointed that the media quickly jumped into conclusions about the transfer list and that he was positive Richards would make a comeback soon.

Khumalo also said that the said players were negatively affected by the news. "You could see at our training session on Monday that something was not right about these players," Khumalo said.

Richards, who shot to prominence in the previous Mandela Cup campaign, is yet to make a start this season.

Chiefs will be away this weekend as they travel to Durban for an encounter with Golden Arrows, who triumphed 1-0 in the first round at Olympia Park on October 12 last year.

Then Muhsin Ertugral was still in charge and since Khumalo and Ace Khuse were installed as caretaker-coaches, Amakhosi have registered seven league victories in 15 outings.
