“Yeye” showed a lot of zeal during his days at PJ Stars and it was not a surprise when he caught the eyes of Jomo Cosmos. His contract with Cosmos came to an end at the same time the club was getting relegated and this gave the soft speaking player an opportunity to join his favourite childhood team, Kaizer Chiefs.
Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com after yet another engaging session under the watchful eye of assistant coach, Fani Madida and goalkeeper coach Rainer Dinkelacker, the Soweto born player said he is cherishing every minute spent at Naturena. He is confident that his game is going to hit tops due to Muhsin Ertugral and technical staff coaching methods.
“Early indications are that my game is going to improve tremendously in the course of the new season” says the player who has penned down a three-year contract with the Club.
"I have received lot of support from both the technical team and the players. I have not had a one-on-one with the coach on what he expects of me but by working with him I feel confident about my game. Muhsin (Ertugral) is a perfectionist, I am slowly but surely getting used to his ‘do or die’ approach. He wants his players to be disciplined and discipline is something he emphasizes all the time," he said.
Renielwe showed some good touches in both the Mpumalanga Premier’s International Cup and the recent Phakisa Cup. The ability to deliver good passes to strikers, superior positioning in the midfield is his trademark.
"The guys have made my life very easy and I am in contact a lot with both Jimmy Tau and Arthur Zwane. My fitness level is not a problem; Elsa Storm has worked us very hard from day one. Mentally, I am prepared," he says.
The former Jomo Cosmos midfielder says he and his teammates have not really started talking about the upcoming Vodacom Challenge potential thrill-a-minute encounter against European Champions, Manchester United (ManU). The two sides meet in a mouth-watering clash at Newlands Stadium next week Saturday, 19 July.
"We have not really spoken about it among ourselves. Personally, I have been focused on what the coach wants me to do at our training sessions. It won’t help me to start thinking about the upcoming game against ManU, because preparation has to start on our training ground. Maybe we will start talking about the game next week but for now - we have just been working hard. Having said that I am looking forward to the game."
Meanwhile Kaizer Chiefs opponents, Manchester United are playing Scotland side Aberdeen this weekend as they kick start their preparations for the forthcoming season. The Red Devils are due to arrive in the country next week and they will play Kaizer Chiefs at Newlands, Saturday 19 July.
They will then face Orlando Pirates in Durban, Tuesday 22 July and before awaiting a winner between Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in the Soweto derby that will be played in Port Elizabeth, 24 July. The winners between the two Soweto giants will play in the final, and take on Manchester United at Loftus Stadium in Pretoria, July 27.
