“We are working hard at training and soon the wanted results will come,” says William Twala convincingly ahead of Kaizer Chiefs’ Absa Premiership fixture against Ajax Cape Town at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 16 April (kick-off is at 20:15).
The winger received praise for his scintillating performance against Mpumalanga Black Aces on Tuesday night. Twala, however, reacts modestly: “It is not about me. It is about the team.”
Sadly, Amakhosi couldn’t beat Black Aces – the game finished in a two-all draw – but the team played well and Twala’s performance was certainly a highlight.
The 26-year-old recently played for Bafana Bafana, being in the squad that achieved home and away draws against Cameroon for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
“It was a great motivator to be selected for the national team,” Twala reflects graciously. “I gained a lot of experience from Bafana Bafana. I’m working for the team and I want us to win as a team.”
“Ajax are a good side,” observes Twala, while looking at Chiefs’ prospects against the Urban Warriors on Saturday. “We need the points as much as they do. It will be a tough match.”
“We have been working hard and we are ready for Saturday,” a highly inspired Twala told a gathered media conference at Chiefs Village on Thursday afternoon.
Chiefs go into this match placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with 40 points from 24 matches, while Ajax are occupying ninth position on the league table (31 points from 24 games).
The encounter between Amakhosi and the Urban Warriors is played at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, 16 April (kick-off at 20:15, while gates open at 17:30).
