Kaizer Chiefs (Masango (63),Nkhatha (71)) 2 - 0 SuperSport United
Coach Baxter was happy with the 2-0 win over SuperSport United on Saturday. The Chiefs Mentor lamented his side's slow start in the first half but expressed joy at the response of his lads after the break.
"I'm pleased with the result, pleased with the second half but I thought we were poor in the first half. I thought we had a string of very nice attacks in the middle of a very poor first half. I thought that wasn't the sort of football we want to play," Baxter said at the Postmatch Press Conference.
Seemingly defensive approach from SuperSport United?
"We've got to be able to attack a team when they park the bus, you've got to be able to attack a team when they've just attacked you, when they're not in balance, and that's the name of the game," said Baxter.
"I think we're getting pretty good at picking our way through when we do it properly," continued Baxter.
The game of two halves?
"Second half it looked more like us, we pressed better, we broke up their play better, we were braver with the ball, better movement. Everything was a touch better in the second half," said Baxter.
We will go into the Fifa break on top of the log after winning all of our five opening fixtures.
Masango, Mathoho, Khune and Lebese will join Shakes Mashaba's squad to face Sudan and Nigeria in the Afcon qualifiers games.
