Ritchie: We need to start winning again

Keegan Ritchie expressed his delight of being back in the team but revealed that like all his teammates he was disappointed with the draw against Maritzburg United on Friday evening.

The flying leftback was voted Man of the Match for his efforts and has vowed to keep working hard to keep his place in the team.

“I was happy to win the Man of the Match award. I just wanted to do well for the team and I think I worked harder and it was disappointing at the end of the day that we drew the game after taking a lead in the first half.

We also created lots of chances to win the game but it was not to be. It was unfortunate that they (Maritzburg United) came back to equalise right at the death,” said Ritchie speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Monday morning.

“As a player you always want to prove yourself and I was happy with my contribution on the day. I thought I defended well and added numbers when we went forward.

“It was bad to see what happened to Jambo (Jimmy) who has been doing well in the position since the start of the season. As a player though you always need to be ready to step in and do the job when called up by the Technical Team. I would like to wish him a speedy recovery,” continued Ritchie.

“We have two tough games next week in Polokwane against Golden Arrows and SuperSport United respectively. It is important that we return back to winning ways. It would be nice to win both games.

“We need to keep focused on the job at hand and we all know that Arrows is never an easy side to play against. We remain unbeaten which is good but we need to start winning again,” added Ritchie.
