Bernard Parker has to be one of the most stylish players at Naturena. Having played in Europe, Benito has got the swag and he took time to speak to kaizerchiefs.com about his ‘other side’.

Firsts….

The first jersey number…

It was jersey 14 while at School of Excellence and I used the same number when I joined Benoni Premier United.

First boots…

Jomo Sono King! I was in Primary playing in the Eastern Gauteng League and it was one of the proudest moments for me as a youngster to have a boot.

The first pay cheque…

It was R3500. I gave R3000 to my mom in fact it was always the case, I would give R3000 to her for groceries and my taxi fare. I would then take R500 to buy T-shirts or tekkies.

The first kiss…

(laughing) I was too young. I do not remember at all.

The first car…

It was VW Golf 1 my mother, Johanna, bought for me when I passed matric about eight years ago.

Ifs….

If you would invite four people for dinner in your house who would it be?

I would invite the former President, Nelson Mandela, Sir Alex Furgerson, my mother and Benni McCarthy. I would prepare them a Phuthu Pap and Vleis or Phuthu Pap and Lucky Star. I will not have a special meal for Benni! (Laughing)

If you were not a footballer what would you be doing?

I would be doing a 9-5 job somewhere, I do not know!

If you would be given an opportunity to sign two players for Chiefs who would you go for?

I would sign Barcelona’s Lionel Messi and his teammate, Andres Iniesta.

Bernard Parker (laughing)

Who is your funniest teammate?

There is not a lot of funny guys at Chiefs. I would say (Mthokozisi) Yende. He can be quite funny.

What three things people do not know about Bernard Parker?

I am a good swimmer and I have Regional colors! I also like children and I train them at Reigter Park during my spare time. I can be quite naughty, I remember while at FC Twente we had a camp in Spain and one of my teammates put Colgate all over my face. When I woke up, I was like ‘this man’. I knew that I was going to get him and while he was sleeping I put pieces of toilet paper in between his toes and lit it…he was jumping up and down (laughing).
