Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Rowen Fernandez was invited to take part in the Vodacom Golf Classic 2002 played at the Royal Johannesburg and Kensington golf club last Friday.

Fernandez participated in the Vodacom Pro-am which forms part of a 3-day professional golf tournament on the current winter portion of the Sunshine Tour.

The professionals that took part in the tournament competed for prize money during the 3-day tournament. The first two days were pro-am days : 1st day was allocated to the Premier of GP to host in aid of 3 charities; 2nd day - Vodaocm hosted the pro-am and on the final day the professional golfers completed the tournament in a seeded draw.

Rowen played on the 3rd day together with Richard Sterne (prof golf player) and two other amateur golfers.

"It was a great day, I really enjoyed the fact that I had the opportunity of playing with a true professional. I learnt a lot hopefully I will be able to put my learning's to practice and beat my other KC team mates passionate about golf, next time around!"

As you know Golf is a big trend at the KC Village, not only the Chairman plays nearly every week (and has a good handicap as well), but our Financial manager, Jason Raine, our coach has just started his lessons, Brian Baloyi and Cyril Nzama are considered the best in the team, last but not least, Stanton Fredericks and Rowen who also take up any opportunity to play and improve their skills.
