Matthew Rusike returned to training on Tuesday after he has been missing in action for over a month following an injury he sustained during a win against Chippa United in Cape Town on 6 March 2013.

The Zimbabwean international spoke to kaizerchiefs.com following a grueling training session under the watchful eye of Head Coach, Stuart Baxter and Assistant, Doctor Khumalo.

“It feels good to be back in training. I did not feel any discomfort and I hope to be back in action soon."

There were fears initially that the injury might rule Rusike out for the rest of the season.

“The Medical Team has been on top of their game as always and we are all pleased with the progress,” said Rusike, who missed the World Cup qualifier for his country against Egypt back in March owing to the injury.

“Injuries are part of football. We are fortunate to have such depth in the squad and if a player is out there are always options for the Technical Team. We have been unlucky with injuries since the start of the season but the team has soldiered on and continues to do that."

Chiefs turn their attention to the Soweto Derby this week against Moroka Swallows; “It is a massive game for us, a Soweto Derby. They do not come as big as that and we will be determined to come back with three points on Saturday and continue with our good run in the league,”
