The game which will be played at the ABSA Stadium in Durban on Sunday the 24th September is a repeat of the 2004 SAA Supa8 semifinal when the Chiefs defeated the Dube Birds by a goal to nil to advance to the final.
When Chiefs defeated Swallows two years ago in the SAA Supa8 semifinal, it was thanks to a solitary Collins Mbesuma strike after twenty eight minutes, Mbesuma’s strike was too hot for Swallows keeper Greg Etafia too handle and it hit the keeper on its way into the back of the net.
Ernst Middendorp will looking towards a repeat of that result and that of Chiefs most recent success at the ABSA Stadium in Durban, when they defeated Pirates in the ABSA Cup final in May.
The sponsors of Supa8 competition, South African Airways along with the Premier Soccer League, are expecting a full house at the ABSA Stadium later this month, when Chiefs take on Swallows. As a result they have lined up a full bill of entertainment for the fans attending the game starting at 13h30 until kick off at 15h15, as well as half time.
