This was Saddams’ first visit back to Durban - for the Amakhosi’s clash against Golden Arrows -since he was brutally attacked on Point Road in Durban on July 24th after the Amakhosi’s game against Orlando Pirates in the Vodacom Challenge Final.
Maake first visited the police station - where he hung a Kaizer Chiefs flag and handed a jersey over to inspector Mdu Shongwane. Inspector Shongwane was delighted that Saddam had not forgotten the long arm of the law that had came to his assistance.
Commenting at the ceremony Shongwane said: “Saddam has made our day by coming back to show his appreciation for the assistance afforded to him. We were just doing our job but it is always nice when someone appreciates what you have done for them”.
Saddam then made a short journey to Addington hospital where he once again handed over gifts to the nurses who were at his side. He was then asked to visit the children’s ward where he made jokes and wished the little guys and girls a speedy recovery.
Saddam was also grateful to certain members of the public who helped the police with information which lead to the arrests of nine men in connection with the assault.
