The draw for this lucrative knock-out competition took place on Monday but venues and kick-off times could not be unveiled until a meeting of the cup committee that was scheduled for today (Thursday).
The Santos vs Chiefs match will be the only cup fixture on the opening day of the Coca-Cola Cup competition. Two games will be played on Sunday while a further two the following Wednesday at Newlands as a double header and both matches will be live on television.
Chiefs - who narrowly missed out on the R2 million prize money last season to a 34th minute controversial goal by Jomo Cosmos’s Manuel Bucuane in the final - will be out to make amends.
Amakhosi will have a full week to prepare for this opening match as they have only one league match – against Hellenic in Cape Town this weekend.
The last match in the opening round - Manning Rangers vs Orlando Pirates - will be played on October 19 at Chatsworth Stadium.
