Kaizer Chiefs have the opportunity to bounce back from their first setback of the season, their exit from the MTN8, when they host Sekhukhune United at FNB stadium on Wednesday evening.

Amakhosi will be determined to use the Betway Premiership encounter to restore confidence among the ranks by maintaining their 100% record in the league, having won their opening fixture away to newcomers, Kruger United. Like Chiefs, their opponents also won their first league match of the season before being eliminated from the MTN8.

Fullback, Reeve Frosler, tells www.kaizerchiefs.com that the squad has processed the disappointment of last Sunday into inspiration going into the midweek match.

“Losing the MTN8 game was not ideal but we’ve got to pick ourselves up and go onto the next one. We’ve got Sekhukhune next, which gives us another chance to go and do what we need to do and try to get a positive result,” he says, adding, “We have discussed where we need to improve and we are motivated as a team to perform at our best and take the three points.”

His fellow fullback, Thabiso Monyane, reiterated his sentiments, saying, “The MTN8 loss really tested us as a group and we have used that as fuel to improve all areas of our game, to sharpen up. It has been a wake-up call for all of us and we are preparing very hard to play Sekhukhune. They are a tough, hard-running team that is well organised so it will not be easy, but it’s a chance for the boys to put in the work necessary to get a good result and we are going to go for it.”

Amakhosi fans will have one eye on Saturday’s mouthwatering confrontation with Mamelodi Sundowns but Monyane maintains that the players and staff are not looking too far ahead and are primarily concentrated on the task at hand.

“We know Sundowns are looming in the background but we are taking one step at a time and our full attention is focused on facing Sekhukhune,” he insists.
