In what could be seen as a tribute to Kaizer Chiefs brilliant development structures, seven players from the club’s under-17 development team have been called up for the inter-provincial Southern Gauteng tournament.

Of the seven, two, namely Siya Mthembu as well as Sibonile Mchunu, have also been selected for the under-15 team.

The other players are, Itumeleng Khune, Kutlwano Motsanai, Phillip Mbonani, Mohapi Gopotso as well as Middleton Kerwin.

"I would like to believe that the selection of these players justifies what Chiefs is doing with these young players," said development coach Ryder Mofokeng.

"We have one of the best, if not the best, development structures in the country and our players have gone to achieve great success.

"So this makes me happy as well as proud to see our players being recognised in this manner. Everyone is excited at the club, including the players that have been selected.

"This is the beginning of great things to come for the players, I am really proud of them," concluded the former Chiefs great, who was speaking the team’s training camp.
