Kaizer Chiefs winger Siphiwe Tshabalala has told kaizerchiefs.com that he is relishing the prospect of playing against Absa Premiership log leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, in a top of the table encounter when Chiefs host the Brazilians at the FNB Stadium on Saturday.

Tshabalala has not featured for the Amakhosi since starting in and finding the back of the net during Chiefs’ 3-0 victory over Orlando Pirates in the Telkom Knockout Cup Final on December 4, as his mother passed away a day later and he has been observing a period of mourning.

The dreadlocked winger spoke of his desire to play against Sundowns, “getting back to playing again will be wonderful to come back after a month away and playing in such a high profile game is really an exciting prospect. Saturday cannot come quickly enough for me” he explained.

While he is raring to go, Shabba explained to kaizerchiefs.com about the emotional journey he recently underwent as a result of the untimely passing away of his mother. “It was a very testing period for me these last couple of weeks.

My mother was very close to me and losing her was not easy, thankfully a number of my teammates were very supportive and they helped me get through the mourning period.”

With the assistance of his teammates, Shabba has managed to find the fight in him once again, and his hope now is to help Chiefs come through what will be a very difficult test against Sundowns on Saturday with a win.

“This team is a great team every one stands for each other, as one we have shown our commitment to the team’s course by continuing to train on during the holiday period.

We really want to do well and we have been working very hard over the last ten days because we know just how important it is for us to do well against Sundowns. It would be great if I could play and if given the chance I would like to put on the kind of display that will help the team win.”
