A jubilant Siphiwe Tshabalala told kaizerchiefs.com on Saturday that he is prepared to play anywhere the Technical Team feels he can contribute to the success of the team.

Tshabalala, who seemed to be happy to return to Soccer City where he scored the opening goal of the 2010 FIFA World Cup, came on as a late substitute in the first semifinal against Sundowns, but played the whole 90 minutes against Orlando Pirates in the final.

With Siyabulela “Kalusha” Songwiqi operating on the left, Shabba was deployed in the middle, operating just behind Sthembiso Ngcobo. It was he who dispossessed Isaac Chansa then laid the ball to Ngcobo, who set up Lucky Khune to score the opener.

“I am prepared to play anywhere the coach feels I can contribute to the success of the team,” he said.

“Today I played inside and I was happy with my contribution…but it was not only me who played well, as my teammates in all departments looked solid. The Technical Team also introduced a few young players who also played very well.”

“Personally I am happy to have played in front of these supporters following all the speculation about my future in the past few weeks. I have always said that I am happy here,” he said with a smile.

Shabba’s attention this week turns to a crucial international friendly on Wednesday night at Soccer City as Bafana Bafana host the Black Stars of Ghana. “We all know what Ghana can do. It is going to be a good test for us as we prepare for the qualifier against the likes of Niger,” said Tshabalala, who is hoping to earn his 53rd cap against Ghana.

Kick-off for the game is at 8:30pm.
