Amakhosi winger Siphiwe Tshabalala has told kaizerchiefs.com that his injury time equaliser against Free State Stars this past weekend is an indication that Chiefs are prepared to battle in every game till the final whistle, and are not going to give up in their quest to challenge for the Absa Premiership title as well as the Nedbank Cup.

Speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Tuesday Shabba spoke of his and his teammates determination to keep themselves in line for more silverware this season in addition to their Telkom Knockout Cup crown, “we have to go all out and battle all the way.

Although at the moment we are dependent on how results go in other games, we need to win our remaining games and there six games to go and we just four points off the top. We need to carry on fighting.”

Tshabalala is also aware that being one of the senior players in the squad he needs to step up and lift his game in order to help the team , “I am aware of what the coach expects of me, as well as what role I fulfil in the team. The fans also expect me to perform in every game.

As a result I know that an average performance in any game is not okay for me, as a result I double my efforts in every game. Having my teammates enjoy playing with me and the fans appreciating my efforts motivates me for every game. I will continue to try in every match to put my best game forward.”

For Shabba the next assignment is to help Chiefs go the distance in the Nedbank Cup, it along with the league remain the only domestic title Tshabalala has not won since joining Chiefs during the 2006 – 2007 season.

Last season he did not feature in the Nedbank Cup but he did play in the two previous campaigns when Chiefs were eliminated in 2007 – 2008 by Sundowns and last season at the hands of National First Division outfit University of Pretoria (Tshwane) in 2008 – 2009.

“The guys were bitterly disappointed last season as a result of losing to FC Cape Town, we have the experience now to know exactly how we need to deal with Nathi Lions who are our opponents in the Cup.

Having been with a lower tier team you are very motivated when you play against the big teams and double your effort in these types of games, we cannot underestimate Nathi it is going to be hard because we playing in their backyard. We want to win the Nedbank the guys are determined to get to the next round.”
