Amakhosi midfielder Siphiwe Tshabalala is one game away from playing his hundredth match for Chiefs.

The left winger who joined the club during the January transfer window in 2007 made his first appearance for the club when he came on as a substitute against BIDVest Wits during a league game in August 2007.

Standing on the verge of notching up a century of games for Chiefs, Tshabalala said of closing in on this special achievement, “when I joined Chiefs in 2007 I had big ambitions, and I set out to achieve big things. I am grateful that since joining the club I have been able to do that, I can’t believe that I have played so many games.”

Nearing a special milestone with Chiefs, Tshabalala is hoping to continue playing a part in the team’s success.

“I have won two trophies with Chiefs and would like to win many more with the team.

Since I joined the club I have enjoyed every game that I have played in and hopefully we can achieve big things this season.”

Tshabalala could reach his 100th game should he feature for Chiefs against Santos in a league game on Wednesday evening.

Of the prospect of reaching his century he said, “it will be an emotional moment for me when I do play my hundredth game.

I am very excited at the prospect of playing in 100 matches, not everyone gets the chance to play at this level for a team like Chiefs for so many games.

I hope the guys and I will be able to win the game, you want to mark such a milestone with a victory.

I am very pleased to be following in the footsteps of many great players who have played for this wonderful team in the past.”
