Speculation in the media is rife that the Soweto-born star is on his way to Europe once more. “I am focusing on our first league game of the season against Jomo Cosmos.
“No one is chasing me away from Kaizer Chiefs. I have always been happy to don the gold and black jersey,” said Tshabalala, speaking to kaizerchiefs.com on Thursday afternoon.
“I am aware that my manager is working on something and if something comes up and the Club is happy and gives me their blessing I will go. For now my ambition is to win trophies with the Club.
“This season we have set clear objectives to do much better than we did last season. I believe that we have a squad that is capable of meeting the objectives we have set as a team. The game against Bidvest Wits last week was a clear demonstration of our preseason. We know that we are capable of putting a bigger performance but this is going to come with time.”
Shabba, who skippered Bafana Bafana in the absence of Steven Pienaar, was delighted to be one of the scorers in the 3-0 comprehensive win against Burkina Faso.
“I was happy to score last night. I had not scored since the opening game of the World Cup but most importantly I was delighted that we won the game. We can now start preparing for the game against Niger and we are aware it is going to be a tougher assignment.
“Personally I hope that the goal is going to inspire me to get one or two more this coming weekend against Jomo Cosmos. We are all fired up and can’t wait to get the season started following a good preseason,” added Shabba.
Shabba has made 117 appearances for the Glamour Boys overall, scoring 26 goals in total.
