Lucky ‘Sheriff’ Baloyi has confirmed he will be back in the team and has a lot to contribute to the side despite not getting game time this season.

Baloyi who featured regularly in his maiden season has played second fiddle from the likes of Reneilwe ‘Yeye’ Letsholonyane, Siyabonga ‘Doctor’ Nkosi and Willard ‘Cheese & Onion’ Katsande this season.

He impressed when he was used in the traditional no. 6 position during the Macufe Cup in Bloemfontein last month.

“I am disappointed that I have not featured for the team this season. It is normal to feel like this as a player but I am not discouraged at all.

“I have always felt that I am in a right place to grow as a player. I continue to work hard at training every day. My chance will come and ‘Sheriff’ will be back,” he told kaizerchiefs.com following a gruelling session at Kaizer Chiefs Village, Naturena on Tuesday afternoon.

“The competition has been tougher this season and the team has been doing well. It is difficult to change a winning team. The coach had some encouraging words for me after the Macufe appearance and even today after training he called me over; ‘you will get your chance. That you are not featuring in the team does not mean you are a bad player,’ this is encouraging from the Coach and it has kept me going.

Last season Baloyi was outstanding featuring regularly for the side; “I played in almost all the important games last season. This brought lot of encouragement for me and also I proved it to myself that I was able to play at the highest level. My development continues this season under a sound Technical Team.

“Even though I have not been featuring for the team, the guys have been doing remarkably well. We are sitting on top of the table and everyone is motivated. I am working extra hard so that when I am called to do duty for the team I will be ready. I have not given up at all, rather motivated to grab my chance when it comes,” added Baloyi.

Baloyi voted as Player’s Player & Most Improved Player during Kaizer Chiefs Awards last season has made 34 appearances for the Glamour Boys scoring 4 goals since being promoted from Club’s youth structures in 2010/20011 season.
