Today is a big day for Kaizer Chiefs in the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round as they face Angolan side, Kabuscorp SCP in the second leg of the tie after meeting them seven days ago in Angola.
Chiefs are trailing 1-0 from the first round and need to win by a two-goal margin to advance to the next stage of the competition.
The coaches have been hard at work managing the squad after playing four matches in the last 10 days, including travelling to Angola.
There are a few players missing, with Mfundo Vilakazi out due to the U-20 World Cup in Chile, and Wednesday’s debutant goalscorer Khanyisa Mayo is also unavailable due to signing after the registration had closed for this round of CAF matches.
With Mayo not starting, he will be replaced by Glody Lilepo. Other forced changes see the injured Paseka Mako’s place taken by Nkosingiphile Ngcobo and Pule Mmodi comes in for Sipheshile Ndlovu . Other changes will see Dillan Solomons start his first game of the season, coming in for Reeve Frosler; and Gaston Sirino makes way for Mduduzi Shabalala.
The team has changed to a 4-4-2 formation for this encounter.
Brandon Petersen keeps his position as the goalkeeper.
At left-back Amakhosi have Bradley Cross, with Inacio Miguel and Zitha Kwinika at the centre of defence and Solomons at right back.
Sibongiseni Mthethwa also keeps his place in the middle of the park, where he will be joined by Ngcobo. Mmodi will be on the left-wing and Shabalala on the right.
Leading the attack are Ashley Du Preez and Lilepo.
The match officials are from Kenya. They are led by referee Dickens Mimisa Nyagrowa, who will be assisted by Stephan Eleazar Onyango Yiembe and Bonface Karanja Nduta. The fourth official is Eric Njogo Kinandu.
The big Confederation Cup match between Amakhosi and Kabuscorp starts at 15:00 at FNB Stadium. The match will be live on SABC 2, DStv channel 209, with live commentary on most SABC radio stations. There will be live updates on the Club’s X (formerly known as Twitter) account, @kaizerchiefs.
