Chiefs director of communications Thebe Mohatle has informed kaizerchiefs.com that the police in Mmabatho and in the North West province, will be adopting a zero tolerance approach to unruly public behaviour from fans attending the Soweto Derby match between Chiefs and Pirates this Saturday.

The match which is to kick off at 15h00, is expected to be watched by a capacity crowd in Mmabatho and Mohatle believes that the good working relationship between the club and the authorities will help ensure that there will be a carnival type atmosphere surrounding the match.

Mohatle says that fans attending the game should be there to celebrate and appreciate the great rivalry between the teams and that given the fact that both teams are still fighting for a top eight place. Saturday’s game will be an eventful contest with both teams vying to finish as high up as possible, as well as township pride on the line.

Good behaviour

Mohatle explained to kaizerchiefs.com that given past experiences from matches that Chiefs have played in Mmabatho, the full arm of the law will be out in force over the weekend to stamp out disorderly conduct. He said of this “there has in the past been problems with fans traveling to Mmabatho who are not in a sober state who are driving and become a risk to themselves and others. We have been informed by the police that this and other unsavory public behaviour will be rooted, we have put as many plans in place to ensure that people come and return safely from the derby”.

Celebration

The Chiefs director of communications says that the derby is a celebration of history and tradition and when people gather to celebrate their history they should be able to do it in a fun filled environment, where parents will want to bring their children to the festivities as well. “A Chiefs vs Pirates game is a celebration of a long standing history between two teams who have over come a lot of political and other challenges down the years to have achieved what they have. The meeting of these teams is really a celebration of all things good about South African football, we want families to come and making an outing out of it one which they will all enjoy”.

Ticket Sale

Tickets for the match are currently on sale and can be purchased at any Shoprite or Computicket outlet around South Africa. Tickets will be on sale in Mmabatho on Saturday but will only be available at Computicket and Shoprite franchises.

Adult tickets for the match are R20 while juvenile tickets have been priced at R10, the gates of the stadium will open at 09h00 on Saturday there is a host of pre-match entertainment lined up.

The Kaizer Chiefs celebrity ladies are on the pre-match bill and will be playing a curtain raiser against a team from radio station Motsweding FM.
