We have been away twice to Chippa United and Polokwane City, and in as much as we gained single points from the two matches, we would have loved to collect maximum points,” comments coach Steve Komphela ahead of their away assignment against SuperSport United in the Absa Premiership when they meet at Peter Mokaba Stadium on 12 September 2015, kick-off at 18h00.
The Soweto giants have played to two draws in their two away matches so far this season.
“It is our wish to go to SuperSport and collect three points,” says Komphela after completing the pre-match training on Friday afternoon. “We haven’t lost away and we still need to get a win even though we have played only three matches so far.
The fixture comes at the backdrop of a Fifa break, Komphela remains optimistic despite the shoulder injury suffered by his defender Erick Mathoho who’s under assessment, “For those who are in rhythm of winning it breaks a momentum. We had an opportunity to work on Tsepo Masilela with his knee problem. He is not in tip top condition but he is available for selection. We are positive and looking forward to win the match on Saturday.”
The Amakhosi are placed fourth on the Absa Premiership log with five points from three matches.
“We watched SuperSport play against Orlando Pirates and Jomo Cosmos,” confirms Komphela. “We know their danger men and we have their profile. We will be looking at their pattern of play from word go. We will be calling upon some fresh legs in the team to manage the team but, our focus is on the match.”
Komphela poured cold water on suggestions that Chiefs is looking over the SuperSport United match in anticipation of the MTN8 Final match against Ajax CT.
With Chiefs commanding good crowds at their home and away matches, the coach appreciates the supporters, “It is our responsibility to give the fans what they are looking for and that’s nothing else but playing good football and winning.”
Last season Amakhosi won their home match 2-0 in Soweto, but Matsatsantsa replied in kind with a 2-0 victory in their home match.
Tickets for the match cost R40 at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers outlets nationwide.
