Kaizer Chiefs will be hoping to keep the winning momentum in the early stages of the 2019/20 Absa Premiership when they welcome SuperSport United on Saturday, 24 August.
The ding-dong battle is waiting to happen at the iconic FNB Stadium for a 18:00 kick-off.
Sparks always fly when these two competitors come face to face. The 2018/19 season saw the grass suffering on five occasions in all competitions.
SuperSport drew first blood with a 3-2 aggregate win in the MTN8 semi-finals. Goals from Khama Billiat together with Leonardo Castro were not enough to ensure a passage to the finals.
Chiefs retaliated with a 1-0 victory in the quarterfinals of the Telkom Knockout. Ramahlwe Mphahlele’s spot kick was enough to book a space in the semi-finals.
Turning to Absa Premiership, Amakhosi turned up with a 1-0 win over Matsatsantsa a Pitori. George Maluleka’s exquisite drive decided the encounter. The goal got the nod for the best goal of the Month of December 2018.
In the second round of matches, Matsatsantsa stunned Amakhosi by taking a 2nd minute lead, only to find Khama Billiat on a mean mood. Khama scored a scorcher of an equaliser in the 14th minute to earn Amakhosi a point away. Khama’s goal became goal of the month of March 2019 and was nominated Absa Premiership goal of the season.
Tickets for the mouthwatering match are on sale at Computicket and Shoprite/Checkers at a cost of R40.
